Parent and Child Activities Reveal Your Family's Hidden Talents

What are you great at? You know, talents. Have you done them in a while? Here are parent and child activities to uncover your hidden potential.

Dust Off the Old and Try the New
If you are like me, you used to love to do something special back in High School or College, but now you no longer do it. In my case, it is singing, well, and soccer, and crafts, and, shucks, you get the picture.

Chances are, your kids would love to know that about you. And they would thrive if you helped them try out their talent in the same area. Or maybe, they've had their eye on some other hobby that they would love to try, but never got around to asking.

Here's your chance. Whatever your hidden talent is, you are going to do it this Saturday morning. Bright and early, get out the stuff and try it! Pull out the rusty tuba, sheet music, bicycle, sewing machine, cleats and shin guards, wood lathe, garden tools, or whatever suits your fancy, and go for it! Include your kids and let them try out this new activity.

Then let them pick something they want to try that afternoon or the next day. Maybe its scootering or skateboarding (yes, they make scooters for grown-ups - and they are wicked fun). Do it with them and have a blast.

Make up a Super Power
This is a great parent child activity that I tried just tonight at dinner time. We each imagined what super power we really wanted. Here are the results:

  • Mom - Anti-whining ears that can't hear kids who are whining (SWEET!)
  • Dad - Flight (Impractical, but cool)
  • Grampy - Stone Cold Deafness (I guess he doesn't like whining either)
  • Son - Laser beam shooting out of his forehead (not bad!)

I'd be curious to know what your super powers are. Send my your unique ideas and I'll post them here for inspiration!
